Abstract

Decisions and courses of action for climate change adaptation, adopted at various levels from individual households to national governments, are necessarily based on limited views, but are nevertheless determined by the institutions and systems that enable or constrain their actions. The conference on Adapting to Climate Change in Asia presented a broad array of results from recent and ongoing projects on climate change across Asia, and located the results within larger conceptual frameworks regarding adaptation processes and challenges. In addition, the conference served as a key mechanism for disseminating results from a pilot research project on adaptation to climate change in South Asia.
