Abstract

Stakeholder and synthesis workshops, and an analysis of the information collected, confirmed that for most of the countries in the region, the national implementing agency (NPPO) practices little consultation with important stakeholders such as farmers, exporters and other related government agencies. The tendency for NPPOs to address on their own the issues of International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM) serves to emphasize the need for establishing appropriate knowledge networks. The project study findings point to this baseline need in order to achieve integrated national implementation of ISPMs.
