Abstract
This draft report describes the activities undertaken and outputs achieved (2006-2007) within the framework of the original Open Net Initiative (ONi-Asia) project proposal. All partners in the Asia region are preparing to submit activity proposals to be annexed to the product, and all but two partners (Thailand and Viet Nam) have submitted full proposals with narrative description and budget. Specialists will map out institutional and individual expertise in the field of Internet censorship and surveillance in Asia. ONI has performed comprehensive studies on Internet filtering in forty countries, including eleven in Asia, where state-directed Internet filtering occurs regularly.
