Abstract

Project participants included researchers and (former) conflict stakeholders from South Africa, Northern Ireland, Colombia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Indonesia (Aceh), Sudan, Guatemala, El Salvador, Basque Country/Spain and the Philippines. The report presents the genesis, development and outcomes of a 39-month project which aimed to collect and disseminate analysis and lessons-learnt on the dynamics of peace processes and political transitions, from the perspective of non-state armed groups (NSAGs) which have reached various stages of transition from armed struggle to post-war politics. The project contributes peer-advice and policy recommendations towards NSAGs currently in transition, as well as other conflict stakeholders and international policy-makers.
