Abstract
The aim of this review is to identify key components of a ‘good practices’ methodology for applied economists to produce relevant and credible information about transgenic crops for national policymakers. For simplicity, various studies have been grouped into categories that correspond to research questions and fields of analysis. Each field of analysis is associated with certain types of data, analytical models, and policy implications. The study as a whole applies specialized economics literature about the impact of transgenic crops in non-industrialized agricultural systems during the first decade of their adoption, with an emphasis on methods.
