Abstract

Findings show need for effective government information provision, including clear job descriptions of civil servants who will provide information services to citizens, favourable working conditions for providing information services, and an adequate infrastructure for organization of information services. The research indicates that information needs by residency, age, gender and education levels did not show major differences among respondents, but differences were observed between employed and unemployed. Public offices have created information databases, but fail to place them on the Internet with easy public access to meet citizens’ information needs.
