Adaptation aux Changements Climatiques au MAROC (ACCMA), École Nationale Forestière d'Ingénieurs, MA
Abstract
Region-specific sectoral vulnerability is due to change in precipitation amount; and seasonal patterns will increase irrigation needs in order to avoid agricultural yield losses. Financial compensation for losses would overstrain public budgets, especially if climate-caused deficits accumulate. Further vulnerability results from the already sharply limited water availability. Population increase in coastal areas adds pressure on existing water resources, specifically as coastal aquifers already show degradation symptoms, caused by dwellings and saltwater intrusion. Adaptation to climate change and sea level rise are outlined.
