Abstract

The newsletter poses the question “Can people be healthy in unhealthy environments?” Articles cover the Pan-African Session, the Mboro chemical plant, the Mbeubess dumpsite, ecohealth, and ecosystem approaches to health. The concern is that health policy documents rarely mention the environment, and vice versa; there appears to be no apparent link between Health and Environment policies in the same country, in the same period. The session aimed to create awareness on EcoHealth amongst LEAD Fellows, Policy Makers and Parliamentarians. The Shell Foundation (SF) has restated its commitment to partnering and providing training opportunities for emerging African leaders in the LEAD Africa Fellowship Programme.
