Abstract
The workplace is a setting where in addition to occupationally related conditions, infectious diseases contribute to absenteeism, low productivity and disability and death. Appropriate
interventions for communicable disease management can be applied with success in the workplace. In this issue of Occupational Health and Safety, some subjects covered are: HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B; the International Labour Organization (ILO) Programme on HIV/AIDS; wood processing enterprises (Gabon); smallholder tobacco farmers; pesticide manufacturing (Tanzania); healthcare workers in Ghana.
