Abstract

The aim is for funding to support development of a project proposal on the “impact of compliance with food safety standards on livelihoods of smallholder French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) producers in Kenya.” The study examines the impact of European food safety standards on smallholders. The proposed project deals with impact analysis and can be implemented in areas that have been producing French beans for at least three years. The site verification exercise identified two main districts, Kirinyaga and Imenti North, where the research will be conducted. The report provides details on activities and outputs to date (2009).
