Abstract
The project entailed research, design and implementation of a large-scale aerobic composting facility for tropical conditions, with a capacity of 50 tons per day material recovery, including: plans for composting in an aerobic digestion process; facility layout and operational optimization; and Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) registration. The report covers all phases and details of the project. A downloadable instrument allows for determining the terms of reference for new facilities. A major milestone of the project was transfer of ownership and management to a new foundation (2008), creating a public-private partnership between the government, and an independent private village-based foundation.
