Abstract
Isis International and its research partners conducted this three-year, five-country study in the context of interrogating the ICT-centric development framework, and whether and how it reaches women. An intermediary group was selected among the organisations interviewed in each country to conduct a focus group discussion with grassroots women of their communities. Film or video emerged as the top communication tool used in the five countries combined, followed closely by radio and popular theatre. This is supported by the literature review as well, where radio emerged as the most accessible tool. The assumption has been that access to new ICTs will accelerate development.
