Abstract

This one-page brochure presents a breakdown of results from research carried out in 2009 in all health institutions in Serbia, which provided data on smoke-free policy and practice in those institutions. A questionnaire developed for the study was sent to all 399 healthcare institutions. Responses were received from 363 directors or other responsible persons from the institutions. Seven out of ten healthcare institutions indicate that the main obstacle to implementing the smoking ban is the resistance of employees. No mechanism for penalties or incentives is an obstacle.
