Abstract

Project partners successfully introduced the use of handheld computers (PDAs) and Global Positioning System (GPS) devices for data capture and transmission to a central database at the Lubombo Spatial Development Initiative (LSDI) headquarters in Matola city. The evaluation confirmed that the electronic data collection/transmission tools developed by AED-SATELLIFE proved to be useful, adoptable, and result in higher user satisfaction compared to paper based approaches. 100% of the respondents report they want to continue using the PDA in the future, as well as stating they would recommend the use of PDAs in other areas and sectors of activities for the collection of data about health.
