Abstract

The survey was designed to explore the relationships among low-income housing types, environmental health and safety risks, and health and well-being conditions and outcomes. This document provides a brief report on findings from the survey of households in areas representative of the different low-income housing options in Msunduzi municipality, including Reconstruction and Development Programme (RDP) housing, in situ upgrades, informal housing, and traditional housing. Msunduzi encompasses the city of Pietermaritzburg, which is the capital of the KwaZulu-Natal province. The survey is part of the larger project; see http://hdl.handle.net/10625/44183
