Abstract
This book shows how researchers from four of IDRC’s regional environmental economics networks have dealt with issues in a wide variety of situations in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Many examples are given of questions faced by environmental decision-makers. The book contributes insights from 15 years of research and assesses its impact on policy and the research community. It presents a novel way of looking at the causes of environmental problems and at the sorts of solutions that environmental research networks can provide. Researchers generally have good intuition about what problems are important in their own countries and can establish contacts with local decision-makers.
