Closing the gaps between research, practice, and agenda-setting
Abstract
“Ideas on the implementation of yet new ideas.” This topic was included in many of the discussions held at the 5-day forum in Vancouver, but one roundtable discussion, “Planning and Managing Sustainable Cities: From Research to Practice,” focused specifically on the current relation between research and practice. It highlighted the critical situation in which this partnership finds itself, which was summarized by a word that was repeated over and over by participants: gap. This brief article provides perspective on the World Urban Forum (WUF3).
