Free access to law - is it here to stay? : local researcher's methodology guide

Abstract

This proposal document outlines the parameters for research studying free access to the law (FAL) initiatives; what they do and how they do it. The aim is to better understand FAL initiatives and their effect on society, along with an exploration of the factors determining their sustainability. In order to complete a cross-case comparative analysis, countries have been selected to represent multiple legal traditions with FAL initiatives at various stages of development. The paper outlines research questions and methodology. The research intends to cover Southern and Eastern Africa; Western Africa; Asia and the Pacific, and Canada.
