Abstract

The development of the Kalama community wildlife conservancy has increased employment along with the diversity of livelihoods. Land ownership has been strengthened and grazing management has improved. The newsletter provides concise information about the conservancy initiative, which has led to protection of water catchment areas, re-vegetation, as well as enabling holistic management of resources. Land ownership and acquisition of title deeds has been particularly important. The conservation work has helped reduce conflict with other communities, resulting in improved security, and improving governance and development of infrastructure.
