Abstract
Teluk Sepang is a resettlement area established in Bengkulu City (1998) by the Indonesian Transmigration Program (ITP), prompted by the frequency of tsunami and wave surge-related risks as well as impacts on beach erosion and fisheries due to sand mining. This report details advocacy strategies to generate critical knowledge in relation to contesting laws, bringing clarity to the position of people most affected by sand mining activities, and to illuminate the position of society over such activities relative to management of the natural resource base in Bengkulu. Activities included village level meetings and hearings, and critical legal training.
