Abstract

This paper provides an evaluation of the Anti-retroviral Treatment (ART) program, and in particular, the methods used to strengthen and optimize data and data collection with electronic records keeping of clinical data. The usefulness of the clinical data warehouse for monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of disease treatment was significantly enhanced by linking data from the South African Death Register, Electronic TB Register and National Health Laboratory Service. The project also yielded ground-breaking agreements governing data linkages and the use of data for research purposes. The final report covers project objectives, methodology, research, activities, outputs and outcomes of this programme.
