Abstract
This review provides a synopsis of Zambian national, social, and economic indicators, a brief overview of the regulatory environment, and the institutional setup and major developments in the telecommunications sector. It focuses on key ICT subsectors such as fixed-line, mobile, Internet, broadband and others. Unlike the earlier sector performance review, the recent review has incorporated Government utilisation of ICT. The cost of Internet services in the country is prohibitively high, with only 0.3% of households having Internet connections. Penetration of telecommunications services to rural and underserved areas still remains one of the challenges in the sector.
