Abstract
In the Philippines, six of the Leading Causes of Mortality are non-communicable diseases (NCD): Diseases of Heart and Vascular System, Cancers, COPD, Diabetes, and Kidney Diseases. Prevalence of tobacco use is 34.8%. The presentation focuses on calculating the burden of diseases in order to provide an objective assessment of health status and address limitations of available health statistics. Various mathematical formulae are presented to provide estimations of morbidity, and smoking attributable morbidity.
