Abstract
The workshop identified research areas for the application of ICTs in Natural Resource Management (NRM), and drew attention to features they have in common, which give them unique programmatic significance and linkages. As with access to communications and information, natural resources are seen as a public good. The report covers lessons learned in the debate over public goods in these two spheres, which can be combined to develop a more unified approach to securing the ‘commons’. Selected participants participated in a GIS training workshop, an introduction to the possibilities of using remote sensing for analysis, communication, and dissemination of research.
