Abstract

Tanzania Essential Health Interventions Project (TEHIP), a joint initiative between IDRC and Tanzania’s Ministry of Health, contributes to ongoing national health sector reforms that aim to improve the efficiency and accessibility of Tanzanian health services. This 2-page brochure outlines some of the activities of the TEHIP programme and the successful “toolbox” it has developed which includes: “Burden of Disease Profiles” to show health needs at the community level; “District Health Accounts” to map budgets; a “Cost Information System” to identify inefficiencies; and “Community Voice” to facilitate community participation in health planning.
