Abstract
The presentation provides background on Consumers International in Africa. The African Consumer Protection Index (ACPI) measures the level of consumer protection (CP) that citizens enjoy, based on consumer rights. The Current Consumer Protection Law (CPL) project in Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia provides redress to consumers through improved protection and confidence in the telecom market. The objective is to advocate for comprehensive CPL that adequately protects consumers, supported by institutions that will ensure implementation and enforcement of the legislation, and respect consumer rights in Africa.
