Abstract

This short book records the reflections, opinions, and recommendations that emerged from six national workshops in West and Central Africa on the synergy between research and decision-makers. Despite quality research conducted by national researchers within African countries, policy decisions are most often informed by “expert” advice from abroad. The meetings mobilised decision-makers (politicians, civil society, local elected representatives, traditional and religious leaders) and researchers having a specific field or country in common. IDRC continues to work to promote the use of quality African research in policy-making.
