Abstract
How research is used, produced, and viewed by public policy in developing countries, and the specific nature of trade policy in Latin America are discussed in this book. It examines the role of academic research in the process of trade negotiation. It analyzes the main obstacles and difficulties in linking research with decision-making, and proposes recommendations for the future. In the context of ongoing trade negotiations and renegotiations, more attention needs to be paid to the struggle of ideas and the role played by academic research in policy and decision-making.
