Impact of changes in the prices of rice and fuel on poverty in the Philippines

Abstract

The study featured in this journal (“Community-Based Monitoring System Network Updates”) determined the impact on poverty of rising costs of rice and fuel in order to help decision makers design specific policy interventions. The CBMS survey helped determine impacts of rising prices at the household level as well as coping strategies which were adopted. CBMS Teams in Ghana and Cambodia undertook a similar study and derived similar findings in terms of household coping mechanisms.
