Abstract

The Community-Based Monitoring System Composite Poverty Index (CBMSCPI) uses a set of CBMS indicators to track multidimensional aspects of poverty and poverty incidence. The composite indicator approach meets the objective of producing disaggregated poverty profiles regularly, at low cost, for more efficient monitoring of poverty reduction policies and programs. Viet Nam is considered a successful case in poverty reduction among developing countries. This feature article provides results of a survey reflecting a set of indicators that include both value indicators (income) and basic household needs (food intake, clothing, housing, transportation, education, healthcare).
