Abstract
The research findings are drawn from draft research reports completed by the African Copyright and Access to Knowledge Network (ACA2K) country research teams from Ghana, Egypt, Mozambique, Kenya, Morocco, Uganda, Senegal and South Africa. The fundamental concept underlying ACA2K research is that knowledge is essential to human development and is thus an essential human right. It is a component of economic progress, cultural growth and individual fulfilment. According to the ACA2K framework, a just copyright system will be one that enables access to knowledge (A2K). ACA2K investigates the relationship between copyright and access to knowledge in eight African countries.
