Abstract
Access to knowledge (A2K) is essential to an equitable (information) society. ICTs have the potential to greatly increase A2K and to enhance creation of new knowledge, innovation and creativity. The presentation provides information about copyright law and how it fits into access to knowledge, knowledge creation, and innovation. It also reports on the African Copyright and Access to Knowledge (ACA2K) research group activities. Legal and institutional reforms are needed for copyright to be responsive to the demand for open access to learning materials.
