Abstract

The presentation provides information about, and results of a survey of early adopters and non-adopters of a distance learning approach to education. Higher education lecturers identified some issues as critical: Training in distance education (DE) and e‐learning; Access to ICT facilities; Presence of a guiding policy in DE; Support from university administrators; and Provision of Intellectual property rights policy. The study concludes that the differences between adopters and non-adopters can be addressed by tailoring e‐learning training programmes to the specific needs of individuals and groups.
