Abstract

The Regoverning Markets Programme provides strategic advice and guidance to the public sector, agrifood chain actors, civil society organizations and development agencies on approaches that can anticipate and manage the impacts of changes in local and regional markets. This report is a synthesis of micro-studies for eight study countries in the Regoverning Markets Programme: China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Poland, South Africa, Turkey, and Zambia. The focus of the research is on the restructuring of dynamic national and regional food industries, and the effects on smallā€scale farmers, as well as implications for local rural economies.
