    telecentre.org Academy provides skills training to telecentre managers and operators in order to keep them informed of new technologies, increasing their capacity to serve poor and marginalized dwellers at the grassroots level of society. In this issue, the focus is on telecentre.org Academy and the transition to telecentre.org 2.0 Since Philippines will be the new host of the academy, the Philippine success is reported on. In addition, strategies for bridging the digital divide could make telecentres instrumental in coping with climate catastrophe, contributing to human security and other unforeseen challenges. The magazine provides coverage of telecentre events from across the world.

    Building a Community ICT Network in Mozambique : final technical report, 1 April 2006 - 30 November 2009

    Mozambique’s telecentre movement is a strategy based on community multimedia centres (CMCs), incorporating community radio and telecentre components, the helpnet/network, and bringing together all community ICT initiatives. The project contributes towards the expansion and consolidation of CMC’s through a Community Information and Communication Support Centre (CAICC) and integrated helpdesk. CAICC activities include: communication networks operations support, website and blog; helpdesk online; formal and on-the-job training and advice; staff exchanges; and training products disseminated on and offline. At the national level CAICC coordinated with key actors in community ICTs, and at international level participated in African and global networks.

    The purpose of this human resource manual is to outline and contain all human resources-related policies developed by and for the telecentre.org Foundation and the procedures designed to implement the said policies. The new generation of telecentre.org (referred to as telecentre.org 2.0) was launched from its new operations base in the Philippines, March 2010.

    The telecentre.org community (2010) spans five regions of the world with 30 major active networks and over 100,000 telecentres serving 100 million people in 52 countries. Telecentre.org 2.0 will be a government/country‐independent foundation based in the Philippines with an initial Board of Trustees composed of investors (IDRC and Microsoft) and the host institution (CICT‐Philippines). This document outlines the next 5‐year span of global telecentre network growth and support for capacity‐building (2010‐2015).

    Through e-Sri Lanka, the government is leveraging ICT to improve public service delivery, increase private sector competitiveness, promote new sources of growth, accelerate social development, bridge the digital divide, and support social stability. The report covers activities, outputs and outcomes of the project, including skills development, training workshops, advocacy and an operators’ toolkit. Outlines of strategies to meet the challenges of diversity, rural communities, and building social enterprise are reviewed in practical detail.

    Planning for telecentre.org 2.0 : terminal report

    The planning for the telecentre.org 2.0 project stemmed from the need to transfer the second five years of this successful initiative (telecentre.org 1.0) to its new host country in the Philippines. A "2.0" strategy and program framework were developed, and formulating communication and resource mobilization plans were carried out. This report reviews activities, events, outputs and outcomes. Telecentre.org has become the principal ecosystem for telecentres around the world.

    El informe que aquí se presenta da cuenta del resultado final de la asistencia técnica desarrollada por ARSChile Ltda. para el Programa Telecentre.Org del International Development Research Center (IDRC) para formular una propuesta de organización para la Red de Redes de Telecentros de América Latina y el Caribe. El supuesto que ha orientado la consultoría no ha sido la transferencia de conocimiento a través de un modelo cerrado que condujera la creación de la Red, sino la generación de elementos para la construcción participativa de este modelo entre sus protagonistas. En este sentido, la presente propuesta es producto de un proceso participativo de consulta y discusión, que ha permitido definir elementos claves a considerar y desarrollar en el documento. El informe se ha estructurado en dos capítulos. El primero cumple el propósito de establecer el marco de referencia a través del cual se sustenta la propuesta presentada. Para ello, en primer lugar, se da cuenta de objetivos, operación y posibilidades de los mecanismos de organización en red, así como toda una serie de conceptos, argumentos y tipologías asociadas al enfoque de la organización en red.     Mission 2011 promotes initiatives taken by private sector, NGOs, research institutions and other stakeholders for building various models of telecentres in Bangladesh, and in other developing countries, so that by 2011 all citizens of Bangladesh will have access to a telecentre. The roadmap for ‘every village a knowledge centre’ spelt out in Mission 2011 is very much a reality in the near future. Bangladesh Telecentre Networks vision is to have an inclusive knowledge society in Bangladesh, where poor and marginalized people have access to information and knowledge for improving their livelihood through the use of ICTs.
