Abstract

The case-studies indicate that IDRC-supported research projects can, and do, make a difference. This report provides a synthesis of findings of forty-two case-studies, covering IDRC supported projects in twenty countries. It identifies factors that have influenced the achievement of results, contributes to further understanding of realistic outcomes in funding development research, and captures lessons learned regarding assessment of results. "The Survey and Assessment of Completed Projects" comprised the development of a conceptual framework to assess the results of development research, and a series of studies about the results of projects in several programming areas.
