Abstract

ICTs are bringing tremendous change to Africa, including speeding up knowledge dissemination regarding female genital mutilation (FMG) practices (and moving towards their eradication). Women and youth are often left out of the ‘right to know,’ power to communicate, make decisions or have a right to their own bodies. Part of the information-sharing process was the launching of an online international discussion forum in 2007. Researchers explain to women the impact of FGM on women’s reproductive, physical and mental health.
