Abstract
Unregulated large-scale mining by Canadian mining interests has brought devastation on people's lives, the lives of communities, and the land itself. Workshop participants provided an agenda for joint action and directions for research that is located in the experiences of people living with the effects of Canadian mining development. For this agenda to succeed requires the financial, moral, and resource support of the Canadian government and the governments of the affected communities, Canadian non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and concerned citizens, and the multilateral organisations concerned with environmental, social, economic and human rights issues.
