Abstract

The paper argues that manufacturing companies competing successfully in international markets hold promise for employment growth for many in the South African labour force, especially those without tertiary education. Using Ziton manufacturing as a case study to demonstrate a pattern of innovation management in successful companies abroad, the paper reviews some key features of management in innovation in the South African environment. Policy recommendations are featured in the last section.
