Abstract
The survey works to distinguish the phenomenon of non-employment from that of disguised unemployment, which could also be called hidden unemployment. The concept of non-employment makes a clear reference to income/poverty, whereas neither all of the unemployed are poor, nor are all the poor employed. Wages earned by members of households (outside the household) are clearly value added by them through some activity/activities. The research classifies types of activities, and reports on a survey sample of 5000 households. Value Added Acrrued to the Household (VAAH) includes many kinds of employment and ‘other’ un-or under-employment categories.
