Abstract

Forced into motherhood at age 14, Paulina’s name is synonymous with injustice. The case of this survivor, a girl who became pregnant as a result of the crime of rape and denied her right to a legal abortion, has changed the face of reproductive rights in Mexico and acquired unprecedented public importance. The paper documents the movement towards reproductive rights and freedoms mobilized by Paulina’s suffering and the Grupo de Información en Reproducción Elegida (GIRE) Mexico City, Mexico.
