Abstract

The project identifies policy measures which enable Vietnamese enterprises to overcome trade barriers such as intellectual property rights (IPR)-related issues, in order to integrate successfully into international production networks, focusing on learning and innovation capacity building. In a manufacturing sector like the Vietnamese auto/motor industry, the issue of localization is a key question. Using production networks for a case study, a representative sample survey of 100 firms in automotive related industries was conducted. Given the importance of the motorcycle industry in a context like Vietnam, the project directs more attention and research efforts on this sub-sector.
