Abstract

The 'Círculo' is based on old Mexico’s "tíanguis", Indigenous marketplaces where people exchanged food and ideas. The market is founded on the principals of fair trade, ecologically sound agriculture, and responsible consumption. The article is about the marketplace, and how it features in the video work of Danielle Schami. Her 30 minute English/Spanish documentary, “Full Circle: From Rural Fields to Urban Tables” is funded through IDRC. Schami sees the video as educational, supporting the principles and successes of small-scale farming and farmers markets, responding to and targeting interested community groups.
