Abstract

Multiple maps provide visual representation of patterns of telecommunications access and usage. The Acacia Initiative: Communities and the Information Society in Africa Program Initiative program empowers sub-Saharan communities with the ability to apply information and communication technologies (ICTs) to their own social and economic development. Through such methods as the Jipp Curve, or measurement of a country’s infodensity and info-use, a concept of “info-state” becomes useable. Differences between Infostate values for each economy and all countries (“Hypothetica”) are plotted, providing a glimpse at the evolution of the Digital Divide.
