Abstract

The goal was to identify and build the capacity of researchers, their associates and assistants in conducting agro-socio-economic research on urban agricultural (UA) systems. The report highlights accomplishments of the training programme. The project introduced potential trainers of trainees on UA the basic methods of conducting and processing agro-socio-economic research data for policy, programming, and project work. The scale of UA operations is low and constrained by the availability of secured land. Among others, the report recommends that urban agriculture should be considered an issue in urban planning, research and extension service delivery.
