Abstract:
The Soils Food and Healthy Communities (SFHC) project aims to improve the health of resource-poor households in northern Malawi through a participatory pilot research project that introduces legume systems and which uses an ecosystem approach to examine the linkages between food security and health. Legume systems appear to improve soil fertility and provide an additional, nutritious food crop. Participation in SFHC results in positive changes in feeding practices of young children where early introduction of solid food is practised
