Abstract:
Changes in fisheries that have led to deterioration in the livelihoods of coastal communities, degradation of the bio-physical linkages that helped sustain fisheries, and the links to overall health of the coastal population is the focus in this report. The ecosystem approach recognizes the complex and often unpredictable relationships between biotic and abiotic components of ecosystems. The study is located in the area of Ponnani, in the north western coast of Kerala, and is representative of much of the coastal population.
