Abstract

The goal of the Sustainable Use of Biodiversity Program Initiative (SUB PI) is to promote the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. It also aims to develop appropriate technologies, local institutions, and policy frameworks through the application of interdisciplinary and participatory research that incorporates gender considerations and local and Indigenous knowledge. The SUB PI program focuses on plant genetic resources that are vital to communities for food security, nutrition, and primary health care. This brief provides examples of work underway in Central America and the Caribbean, South Asia and Ethiopia.
