Abstract
This project, funded by the International Development Research Center
(IDRC), was a collaboration/cooperative effect between the Population
and Community Development Association(PDA) and the program on
AIDS , Thai Red Cross Society. The project areas are in Wiang Pa Pao
District in Chiang Rai Province and Chiang Kham District in Phayao
Province. The objective of the project was to prevent young women in the
North of Thailand from entering commercial sex work. 111 order to
evaluate the project, the study was done using questionnaires, focus group
discussion and in-depth interview. The target groups of the study (those
directly impacted by the project) were young women and young men in
the villages, parents and community leaders. The project lasted from May
