Abstract

IDRC supported. Paper on the possible impact of land settlement schemes on rural social stratification in Zambia - discusses the political and economic background of these schemes, oriented towards the transition from subsistence farming to commercial farming to increase agricultural production, and the discrepancy between government policy and the official socialist political ideology.
